Location
Neoi Poroi lies on the Aegean coast — on the Thermaic Gulf — in southern Pieria, Central Macedonia, right at the foot of Mount Olympus.
This combination of open sea and high mountain gives the village a mild, pleasant climate: warm but rarely oppressive, with a breeze coming off the water in the afternoon and cooler air rolling down from Olympus at night.
Everything in Neoi Poroi is walkable. From our house it is 50 metres to the sand and two to four minutes to the bakeries and the first tavernas. For everything beyond the village, the motorway, the railway station and the sights of Pieria are all close by.

Almost everything in Neoi Poroi is within walking distance — here are the routes our guests use most, with realistic walking times for a relaxed pace.
To the beach

Straight out of the front door, past the playground and you are on the golden sand. No road to cross, gentle shallow water — ideal with children.
Beach promenade stroll
20–30 min · 1.5 km
Flat paved promenade along the sea, past beach bars, tavernas and the small harbour area — the classic evening walk with an ice cream.
Village round: square, bakery, shops
15 min · 900 m
Church square, Corner Bakery and Bakery Theros and the tavernas of the old village centre — a loop you can do before breakfast.
Palaioi Poroi & Platamonas Castle
35–50 min one way (or 5 min by car)
Along the coastal path towards Platamonas, then up the signposted castle path. Steep in the last section, but the view over the Aegean and Mount Olympus is worth every step.
All times are for a comfortable stroll. The promenade and the village streets are flat and easy with prams, wheeled walkers or wheeled beach carts; the castle path in Platamonas is the only steep section.
